Job summary

Power Dry in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Water Mitigation Crew Chief to lead restoration crews on residential and commercial sites affected by water damage. You will guide the crew, manage equipment, and ensure safety and quality while delivering empathetic customer service during stressful times.

Ideal candidates have hands-on restoration or related experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including on-call shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Previous restoration, mitigation, construction, skilled trades, or related hands-on experience preferred.
• Previous crew lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to lead and work alongside a field crew.
• Able to lift and move items up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Physically able to perform demanding work throughout the day.
• Comfortable using or learning to use hand tools, power tools, and restoration equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Maintain professionalism and empathy with customers under stress.
• Dependable, punctual, and reliable.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise assigned crew members on restoration job sites.
• Assess water and sewage damage and determine mitigation steps.
• Perform water extraction, mitigation, and structural drying.
• Set up, monitor, and remove drying equipment.
• Perform demolition and removal of damaged materials as needed.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and restoration equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
• Communicate project progress and expectations clearly with customers.
• Provide professional and empathetic service to homeowners and businesses.
• Maintain project documentation using company and industry software.
• Ensure work meets company procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Drive a company vehicle to/from job sites following safety rules.
• Assist with mold remediation projects following training.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and ensure timely completion.
