Job summary

The City of Norfolk, VA, seeks an Assistant Superintendent of Wastewater to lead the Wastewater Division, manage personnel, budgets, and customer service, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Qualifications

• Two years of college resulting in an associate's degree or equivalent.
• Seven years experience in wastewater systems.
• Seven years experience in supervisory positions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the management of personnel by conducting divisional staff meetings, assisting with staff selection, training, scheduling, development, and evaluating employee performance.
• Assist with directing departmental operations by overseeing installations and repairs of sewer mains and wastewater infrastructure and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Plan, organize, and manage utility maintenance and supervisory personnel.
• Prepare operating and performance reports and assist with divisional budget.
• Respond to citizen inquiries and concerns and communicate with internal and external organizations.
