Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc. is hiring a Lead Warehouse Associate to provide timely loading and unloading support for various departments at the Cockrill Bend- Warehouse location.

Responsibilities include operating tow motors and pallet jacks, inspecting freight, maintaining inventory, and coordinating seasonal storage with management. Forklift certification is required; no prior experience is necessary and on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
• Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds repeatedly and safely.
• Forklift certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload all materials for plant operation using tow motor.
• Check stacking, wrapping, and banding of materials for safe transport.
• Operate tow motor and pallet jack safely and effectively.
• Inspect incoming freight for quantity and quality; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and keep it clean.
• Assist with dock work as needed by Manager or Director of Production.
• Coordinate storage of seasonal materials with Warehouse Manager or Director.
• Support program plans for workers with disabilities as directed by management.
• Maintain accurate inventory of materials in the warehouse.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and legal requirements; maintain attendance.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Summary

The Lead Warehouse Associate will provide timely, efficient loading and unloading services for the departments.

Job Description

Essential Functions

• Loading and unloading all materials for plant operation that requires the use of the tow motor.


• Checking the proper stacking, wrapping, and banding of any materials on skids to ensure its safe transportation.


• Ensuring safe operation of tow motor and pallet jack.


• Checking incoming freight for quantity, quality, and ensuring that regulations are met.


• Inspecting engine oil level and other fluid levels daily to ensure proper engine performance.


• Weekly cleaning of Tow Motor especially dust from the radiator.


• Providing dock work as needed or instructed by Manager.


• Coordinating storage of all seasonal materials with Warehouse Manager or the Director of Production.


• Assisting manager in carrying out program plans for workers with disabilities.


• Maintaining current inventory of material in warehouse.


• Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.


• Regular, reliable attendance, as defined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.


• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Education: None.


• Experience: No experience is necessary.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to follow verbal instructions and to work as a team member.


• Ability to prioritize demands from different departments.


• Must have the ability to lift or carry 75 pounds continuously.


• Must have knowledge of proper methods of lifting, pushing, and pulling materials.


• Must be able to learn the techniques of the job from short demonstration up to and including one month.


• Must be able to read and do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

Certifications and Licenses:

• Forklift Certification is required.
