Job summary

Dart Container is seeking a Lead Warehouse in Lithonia, GA to supervise daily floor operations and support KPI attainment. The role requires strong leadership, SAP experience, and ability to coordinate with multiple departments.

You will oversee inventory, packing, and shipment processes to ensure safe and accurate deliveries. The successful candidate will have at least one year in a fast-paced warehouse, good communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • One year of warehouse or material handling experience in a fast-paced setting.
  • Leadership and communication skills required for shift interactions.
  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel, and SAP familiarity.
  • Accurate reporting, documentation and attention to safety and quality.
  • Ability to train others and work across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead floor operations and coordinate shift activities to meet KPI targets.
  • Audit processes, monitor metrics, and elevate issues to supervision.
  • Communicate with oncoming shifts and other departments to resolve problems.
  • Support Lean initiatives and Operational Excellence on the floor.
  • Manage dock, routing, and inventory using ERP systems and SAP.
  • Prepare shipment docs and liaise with carriers and internal teams.

Performs a wide variety of warehouse operations duties to assist in maintaining department efficiencies at maximum output levels. Work with Department Supervisor and support all assigned personnel and equipment requirements during their respective shift. While performing the duties listed below, the lead is required to spend 85% of time on the floor.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements
  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
  • Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Audit the floor as required by Leader Standard Work, monitor metrics, verify adherence to procedures and standard work, correct deficiencies and elevate to supervisor as necessary
  • Communicate with oncoming shifts about any problems or issues that are occurring
  • Work with other departments to maintain or improve communications
  • Notify supervisor immediately and recommend solutions if there are issues that will prevent achievement of goals
  • Perform routine duties in support of shift requirements
  • Actively support Operational Excellence and effectively participate in lean initiatives
  • Coordinate and schedule work for dock management, routing and sequencing of trailers, rail or water freight
  • Contact vendors or internal departments regarding delivery, lost shipments, incorrect paperwork, pricing, and quantity discrepancies
  • Prepare, process, and distribute shipment documentation for all inbound and outbound services
  • Liaise with internal and external transport companies and departments to coordinate, prioritize and expedite in-coming and out-going shipments
  • Record, control, and monitor site inventory using ERP inventory and purchasing systems
  • Oversee cycle counting activities, compile results, investigate discrepancies, and determine root cause
  • Track and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Create, compile, and deliver required reports
  • Report and record any discrepancy, damaged items, shortages, broken, or unidentified packages to the supervisor
  • Analyze incoming inventory and determine optimal space allocation
  • Ensure proper inventory turning techniques, such as First In, First Out (FIFO)
  • Coordinate inventory moves and consolidation to efficiently utilize space
  • Train employees on SAP systems and procedures, assist with troubleshooting and serve as the plant or warehouse subject matter expert for SAP modules relating to supply chain and inventory management
  • Actively support Operational Excellence and effectively participate in lean initiatives and problem solving

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • One (1) year of warehouse or material handling operations experience, working in a fast-paced work environment
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, and spreadsheets in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities
  • Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) license
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math and dimensional counting skills
  • Experience using purchasing and inventory software
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience in a Lead role
  • Prior SAP experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing or high-volume warehouse environment
  • Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and packaging industrial experience
