Job summary

Dart Container is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for the Day Shift to keep plant equipment in peak condition. You will diagnose, repair, install and modify a range of machinery, performing preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and support smooth production operations.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of maintenance experience, strong tools knowledge, and basic electrical troubleshooting. This role offers safety-focused culture, training and growth opportunities at our Illinois

Qualifications

• Five or more years of preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repair experience or equivalent trade school training.
• Hands-on experience with hand-tools, power-tools and basic electrical troubleshooting.

What you’ll do…

• Install, diagnose, analyze, maintain, modify, repair and/or rebuild a variety of plant and facility equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly and operate efficiently
• Assist production personnel in change-over and set‑ups
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas or to install new or repaired parts

What you’ll need...

• Five (5) years’ experience performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, or comparable experience with trade school or training
• Special knowledge in use of hand-tools, power-tools and specialized knowledge in lock-out tab\g-out (LOTO)and introductory electrical knowledge to include basic wiring principles and basic electrical troubleshooting
• Ability to perform root cause analysis, compare and investigate information, and recommend and implement resolution
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Advanced understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, temperature and pressure gauges
• Understand manufacturing processes and able to inspect and repair or replace components
• Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to modify basic reports, documents and spreadsheets in MS Word, and MS Excel
• Experience operating test equipment and/or software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and/or packaging industrial experience
• Vocational, Technical or Associate Degree in Machine Tool, Machine Maintenance, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanics, Mechatronics Technology, Automation Controls, Robotics or related field
• Experience in electrical and mechanical trades such as HVAC, PLC, and CNC
