Coastal Veterinary Care in Swansea, MA is seeking a Lead Surgical Veterinary Technician to lead our surgery team, oversee anesthesia monitoring, and ensure smooth day-to-day clinical operations.

Coastal Veterinary Care, a brand-new General Practice located in Swansea, MA, is searching for an experienced Lead Surgical Veterinary Technician who can confidently take charge in the surgical suite, keep anesthesia from getting exciting for all the wrong reasons, and be the calm, knowledgeable teammate who embodies a team spirit!

About You:

As our Lead Surgical Veterinary Technician, you will be both a hands‑on clinical expert and a leader for our technician team. You will keep our surgical and non‑surgical days running smoothly while upholding exceptional patient care, teamwork, and client service:

  • Serve as a leader and resource for the veterinary technician/assistant team
  • Assist with and oversee surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, patient recovery, and post‑operative care
  • Ensure appropriate surgical protocols, safety standards, and technique are consistently followed
  • Prepare surgical suite, instruments, equipment, and patients for procedures
  • Monitor anesthetized patients and respond appropriately to changes in patient status
  • Perform dental procedures and assist with dental radiography as needed
  • Place IV catheters, collect and process laboratory samples, administer medications, and provide nursing care
  • Provide high‑quality patient care from admission through discharge
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, procedures, diagnostics, and treatment plans
  • Mentor, train, and support veterinary technicians and assistants
  • Help establish and maintain efficient workflows and clinical protocols
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation
  • Assist with inventory management and maintaining surgical and medical equipment
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive hospital culture
  • Serve as a role model for exceptional patient care and client service

Anticipated Schedule:

This is a full‑time position:

The schedule can be:

4 days a week / 10‑hour shifts – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday – 8am-6pm

Compensation:

Starting at $25.00-$31.00/hour dependent upon experience and education.

Requirements:
  • Veterinary Technician experience, with strong surgical and anesthesia experience preferred
  • CVT/LVT/RVT credential preferred (but not mandatory)
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia, surgical nursing, and patient monitoring
  • Confident technical skills and the ability to work independently
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience strongly preferredExcellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and remain calm in a fast‑paced environment
  • A team‑oriented attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
  • Commitment to fear‑free, compassionate, and high‑quality patient care
  • Someone who enjoys teaching others and helping their teammates grow
