Job summary

Sawtooth Veterinary Services in Jerome, ID is seeking a Lead Veterinary Technician who can elevate patient care and mentor the team. This role partners with Practice Leadership to shape hospital workflows and foster accountability while delivering high-quality nursing care.

The ideal candidate is a CVT (preferred) with at least one year of leadership experience, strong anesthesia and dentistry skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Active CVT preferred.
• Minimum 1 year leadership experience in a veterinary setting.
• Strong technical skills in anesthesia, dentistry, and patient care.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients, including anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, and treatment administration.
• Support daily workflow by assisting with task delegation and ensuring efficient patient flow.
• Train and mentor veterinary assistants/technicians and new team members.
• Assist in onboarding and skill development of medical staff.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with hospital protocols.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians, team members, and clients.
• Help foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.

Requirements

• Active Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) Preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in a veterinary setting (including training, task assignment, or shift leadership)
• Strong technical skills in anesthesia, dentistry, and patient care
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to lead by example and support a team-oriented culture
• Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment and leading and directing daily flow.
