Job summary

Metropolitan Veterinary Associates seeks a Lead Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia at Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital in Plymouth Meeting, PA. This full-time role focuses on planning, administering, and monitoring advanced anesthesia with perioperative care.

You will collaborate with veterinarians and specialists, design individualized anesthesia protocols, maintain precise records, and participate in continuing education. A sign-on bonus and retention bonus are offered.

Qualifications

  • CVT/LVT/RVT licensure preferred.
  • Solid understanding of veterinary terminology, medications, and disease processes.
  • Strong communication skills for client education and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare individualized anesthesia protocols in collaboration with a veterinary anesthesiologist and other specialists.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia using advanced equipment to track vitals and depth of anesthesia.
  • Assist during surgical and diagnostic procedures, adapting to changes in patient status.
  • Manage perioperative pain control and monitor patient comfort.
  • Maintain accurate records of anesthesia protocols, drug usage, and patient responses.
  • Maintain a calm, organized workspace and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Engage in continuing education and case discussions to stay current.

Lead Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia — Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital

Plymouth Meeting, PA | Full-Time


**$5,000 Sign-on Bonus + $2,000 Retention Bonus**


Compensation


  • Starting at $26 - $32/hr, depending on experience and credentials

  • Four 10 hour days Mon-Fri with rotating weekend days

  • Occasional holidays

What You'll Do


  • Plan and prepare individualized anesthesia protocols in collaboration with a veterinary anesthesiologist and other specialists.

  • Administer and monitor anesthesia, using advanced equipment to track vital signs, depth of anesthesia, and patient comfort.

  • Assist during surgical and diagnostic procedures, anticipating the needs of the veterinary team and adapting to rapid changes in patient status.

  • Manage perioperative pain control, administering medications and monitoring pain levels to ensure patient comfort.

  • Help maintain accurate records of anesthesia protocols, drug usage, and patient responses to ensure consistent and informed care.

  • Maintain a calm, organized workspace, ensuring quick access to necessary supplies and troubleshooting equipment as needed.

  • Engage in continuing education and case discussions, keeping abreast of the latest anesthesia protocols, monitoring techniques, and best practices.


What You Bring


  • CVT/LVT/RVT licensure preferred
