Job summary

Woodington Veterinary Hospital in Eagle, Idaho, is seeking a Lead Veterinary Assistant to guide the medical support team and uphold high standards of patient care. You will mentor staff, coordinate workflows, and partner with management to improve hospital operations.

The role supports veterinarians in care delivery, record keeping, and infection control, while ensuring a positive client experience. The schedule runs Monday through Friday with consistent hours and no weekend commitments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong ability to lead by example and motivate others.
• Proficiency in veterinary assistant functions including patient handling and client communication.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfort working with a wide range of animals, including fractious or fearful ones.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and stand/walk for extended periods.
• 7+ years of Veterinary Assistant experience preferred.
• 3+ years of leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Shift: coordinate workflow, assign tasks, and ensure staff coverage.
• Mentor and support veterinary technicians and assistants.
• Identify gaps or inefficiencies and partner to implement solutions.
• Support veterinarians in patient care and maintain medical records.
• Enhance client experience from scheduling to discharge instructions.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness, organization, and safety protocols.
