Job summary

GM Defense is seeking a Lead Development Engineer to own vehicle performance integration from requirements to prototype and launch. You will lead the VPIT, guide performance balance, and coordinate across energy, NVH, drivability, and controls to deliver winning vehicles.

The role requires strong leadership, deep systems knowledge, and the ability to work with government customers and partners in a fast-paced defense environment. Hybrid work model with travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years total engineering experience.
• 3+ years in Vehicle Development (Ride & Handling, NVH, Energy/Drive Quality, Chassis Controls).
• In-depth knowledge of hardware, software, and calibration interfaces.
• Ability to lead vehicle performance and work with Systems/Controls/Propulsion teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead VPIT (Vehicle Perf Integration Team) and Dev-Val Review with data-driven decisions.
• Guide vehicle performance balance across integration groups.
• Participate in GVBR planning for Mule, IVER and PPV builds.
• Provide tuning direction and prioritization for Energy, NVH, Drivability and overall performance.
• Manage Vehicle Development fleet usage and counts within budget.
