Job summary

Sikeston Public Schools in Sikeston, MO is seeking a head athletic coach for the Senior High School program to lead and develop the athletic program within district policies. The role reports to the High School Athletic Director and oversees coaching staff, planning, budget, and compliance with MSHSAA rules.

Essential duties include coordinating practices, evaluating staff, preparing budgets, ensuring safety and paperwork, and representing the program in public information releases.

Qualifications

• Certification Missouri Teacher Certificate.
• Experience desired: At least five years of successful teaching experience in public or private schools.
• Must pass background check and drug test; support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the information contained in the Student Athletic Program Procedures Guide and the implementation of policies/procedures/goals.
• Complete MSHSAA rules meeting, district entries, and officials' evaluations as required.
• Attend all conference general meetings and selection meetings as required.
• Organize and administer coaching of the team; enforce MSHSAA rules pertaining to the sport.
• Assign duties to assistant coaches and evaluate their performance.
• Plan and conduct all practice sessions.
• Prepare public information releases regarding the sport.
• Maintain an accurate squad roster and keep it on file with the High School Athletic Office.
• Ensure athletes have current physicals with insurance before participation.
• Assign at least one coach with the squad at all times and supervise facilities.
• Prepare detailed equipment and supply budget requests.
• Inspect equipment, manage inventory, and oversee student managers.
• Conduct staff meetings and lead tryouts, practices, games, and off-season programs.
• Recommend teams and officials to be scheduled and employed.
• Advise students on problems and provide guidance as needed.
• Instruct on proper equipment usage and game attire for safety and compliance.
• Announce and enforce conditioning and training rules affecting health and safety.
• Report injuries to school officials and athletic directors.
• Support and participate in the overall school program and policies.
