Job summary

Independence School District in Missouri seeks a HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH to lead and grow an extracurricular sports program, aligning middle and high school athletics with district policies.

You will supervise coaching staff, ensure safety and compliance with MSHSAA rules, promote academic achievement, and engage students, families, and the community through development camps and in-season opportunities.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required.
• NFHS Concussion knowledge or certification is preferred.
• Missouri teaching certificate or eligibility to obtain one is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support an athletic program aligning youth, middle school, and high school programs.
• Maintain knowledge of sport rules and fundamentals.
• Adhere to Athletic Handbook policies and MSHSAA rules and regulations.
• Maintain a safe environment to promote wholesome athletic competition.
• Develop positive relations with students, parents, staff, community and media.
• Assign players and manage a team roster as part of a well-organized plan.
• Attend professional development with the Athletic Director for off-season preparation.
• Promote academic achievement through high standards of performance.
• Maintain inventory of school equipment.
• Promote participation, conditioning and training through camps and individual contacts.
• Maximize off-season and summer training opportunities.
• Work in accordance with ISD Board Policies and Regulations.
