Compensation:

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $111,500 - $185,800.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead User Experience Designer to craft experiences for Grainger's enterprise applications and customer-facing solutions, ensuring Grainger remains the destination for "the ones that get it done." This role involves designing seamless, intuitive experiences across web, mobile, and device platforms, primarily focusing on the KeepStock inventory management platform.

This position reports to the Director of User Experience Design and offers hybrid work options from our Chicago or Lake Forest, IL offices, with consideration for full remote work. Some travel may be required for team meetings, research, and user engagement sessions.

You Will:

1. Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, QA, and UX team members to design user experiences.
2. Coordinate with other UX/UI designers to ensure consistency and alignment.
3. Facilitate discussions with users and stakeholders to define needs.
4. Create concepts and detailed designs, including user flows and wireframes.
5. Understand technical and business constraints to iterate designs effectively.
6. Assess current experiences and suggest improvements.
7. Present design decisions and rationale clearly.
8. Develop comprehensive documentation for design standards.
9. Conduct user testing and research to enhance experiences.

You Have:

1. Over 5 years of UX experience with Agile teams; enterprise B2B experience preferred.
2. Formal education in Human-Centered Design, HCI, or equivalent experience.
3. Experience solving complex business problems through design.
4. Deep knowledge of usability, research principles, and best practices.
5. Proficiency in wireframing, design, and testing tools.
6. Experience with internal tools, pattern libraries, and design systems.
7. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
8. Experience designing responsive web solutions.
9. Ability to plan and execute work proactively.
10. Work samples demonstrating complexity management and user empathy.
11. Experience in eCommerce, inventory management, or physical UI is a plus.
