Job summary

Bixal is seeking a Design Lead to be the primary UX research and design authority for the data.CMS.gov program supporting CMS. A portfolio of relevant work is required. The role includes presenting design rationale to CMS stakeholders during the proposal and program review phases.

The position is full-time, remote within the United States, with a contract up to 5 years and a focus on inclusive, accessible, and evidence-driven design practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human-centered design (HCD) or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in HCD and user research for public-facing data websites.
• Portfolio showing end-to-end work from research through shipped product.

Responsibilities

• Lead human-centered design activities across the data.CMS.gov program with evidence-based decisions.
• Plan and facilitate user research (interviews, usability tests, surveys) with client coordination.
• Own and evolve the data.CMS.gov design system and ensure WCAG 2.1 AA conformity.
