Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Utility Plant Operator 2 to operate and maintain a modern high‑pressure boiler plant at Warren State Hospital, delivering reliable heating and hot water across the facility. The role requires mechanical skill, steady attention, and the ability to perform repairs and preventive maintenance.

The position offers full-time hours (40 per week) with a rotating schedule including evenings and weekends; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a utility plant operations role or equivalent.
• Experience operating boilers, valves, gauges and digital controls.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.

Responsibilities

• Boiler operation: Start up and shut down boilers, operate valves, monitor gauges and digital controls to maintain safe heat and hot water.
• Water testing: Collect samples, test water quality, and treat systems to ensure correct feedwater conditions.
• Equipment maintenance: Maintain boilers, pumps, motors, traps, and related systems.
• Emergency response: Perform manual emergency fire horn operations and make urgent repairs when issues arise.
• Plant upkeep: Complete preventive maintenance, clean plant areas, and follow safety procedures.
• Shift coverage: Rotate shifts to ensure continuous monitoring and operation of the boiler plant.
