Job summary

City of Durham Environmental & Street Services is seeking a skilled locate supervisor to oversee city water, sewer, and storm sewer locating work. You will manage a locating crew, review data, and ensure compliance with standards.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent plus six years of surveying/locating experience and a NC Class C license. Durham experience preferred; on-call rotation included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).
• Six years of professional surveying or locating experience.
• A valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Three years of locating work in Durham preferred.
• Experience with an electronic utility-locate ticket management system.

Responsibilities

• Supervises locating operations, including ticket management, budgeting, and co-ordination with residents and City staff.
• Oversees production of locating data and monitors care, calibration, and transport of equipment.
• Trains staff in equipment operation and standard locate procedures; conducts quality control.
• Prepares and maintains reports, reviews field notes, and verifies data for accuracy.
• Supervises paraprofessional and/or support staff and participates in on-call schedule.
