Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas seeks a Supervisor, Underwriting to oversee eligibility, enrollment, and risk evaluation for group and individual business, ensuring compliance with guidelines and leading a team. This role requires collaboration across departments to maintain financial stability and support growth.

You will drive process improvements, manage workload, and provide training while maintaining knowledge of HIPAA, ACA, ERISA and other regulations to ensure accurate underwriting

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of underwriting principles and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and health conditions relevant to underwriting.
• Experience with underwriting systems and Microsoft Office tools.
• Prior leadership and training experience in underwriting teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily Enrollment Risk operations and ensure accurate risk evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with eligibility and participation guidelines for group and individual plans.
• Review and approve risk evaluations with proper documentation and follow-up.
• Collaborate with Sales, Rating, Actuarial, and Membership to explain underwriting decisions.
