Job summary

HDI Global Insurance Company, a commercial property and casualty insurer headquartered in Chicago, IL, seeks an experienced attorney‑adjuster/claims professional to manage high‑volume litigations and complex commercial casualty claims. You will oversee investigations, evaluations, and negotiations, coordinating with external service providers and internal teams.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant claims experience, strong communication, and deep knowledge of product and construction

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Licensing as state adjuster(s) is pursued.
• Litigation and insurance claim management experience with emphasis on product and construction liability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze medical records, expert reports, and other investigative materials.
• Strong attention to detail and interpretation skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Multi-tasking and adaptability to changing priorities.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and related databases.
• Travel required: minimal or as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory of high volume, low severity litigations.
• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex commercial casualty claims with external support as needed.
• Represent HDI in litigation teams where necessary.
• Independently resolve significant exposure claims on favorable terms.
• Control costs and work product of outside counsel and service providers.
• Analyze policy coverages and draft coverage position letters as needed.
• Operate within monetary authority for reserves and payments.
• Prepare timely reports on large losses for management.
• Conduct regular mediation or informal negotiations with stakeholders.
• Build relationships with customers, brokers, and HDI teams domestically and abroad.
• Make decisions with meaningful impact on financial results.
• Identify subrogation recovery opportunities.
• Share lessons learned with other departments.
• Occasional travel for mediation, meetings, court appearances.
