Job summary

Gerber Construction Inc. is seeking a field leader to direct crews installing water, sewer, and storm drainage on CT projects. You will read plans, lay out work, coordinate with project managers, and ensure safe, efficient operations on site.

You will mentor crew members, manage union labor, and ensure equipment, materials, and safety protocols are in place to deliver high-quality installations year-round.

Qualifications

• Experience with underground water, sewer, and storm utilities.
• Ability to manage union craft labor on site.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Familiarity with grades, elevations, and installation practices.
• Proven leadership in hands-on field environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews installing ductile iron water main, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage.
• Read and interpret utility plans, profiles, elevations, and specs.
• Layout work: trenching, bedding, pipe install, alignment, backfill.
• Coordinate daily operations with the Project Manager, Superintendent, trucking, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Ensure crews have equipment, materials, and support to maintain production.
• Identify conflicts, scope changes, or field issues early and communicate clearly.
• Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized jobsite.
• Lead by example with hands-on involvement, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
