Job summary

The Village of Westmont is seeking a Senior Maintenance Worker for the Underground division of the Public Works Department to lead and maintain below-ground infrastructure.

Responsibilities include operating water main repairs, locating utilities with J.U.L.I.E., and directing crews on projects; requires CDL B, IEPA licenses, and availability for emergency calls. We offer comprehensive benefits and fair compensation, with residency in DuPage County required within 12 months.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years municipal or similar experience; water distribution or storm sewer familiarity.
• Valid Illinois CDL Class B with air brake and tanker endorsement required.
• IEPA Class D or C Water Operator license or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Experience leading crews on projects; strong customer service skills.
• Ability to respond to emergency calls 24/7 within 30–45 minutes; standby required.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment for water main repairs, hydrants, valves, and storm sewers.
• Locates underground utilities with J.U.L.I.E. and maintains records.
• Leads workers on projects as a crew chief and assigns tasks.
