Job summary

The Village of Wilmette is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Worker 1 for the Water/Sewer Division in the Engineering and Public Works Department. The role supports maintenance of water and sewer systems and reports to the Water/Sewer Superintendent.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and at least one year operating heavy-duty vehicles or construction equipment. CDL Class B with air brake and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of experience operating heavy-duty vehicles and construction equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds infrequently.
• CDL Class B with air brake and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation and maintenance of water distribution and sewer collection systems.
• Perform manual work with public works construction and maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergencies, snow plowing, and on-call duties as assigned.
