Job summary

Public Service Electric & Gas Co. is seeking a first-level supervisor for its Underground Construction Department at Central Electric Division.

The role supervises construction, maintenance and operation of underground facilities and overhead lines to ensure safe, reliable electric distribution. The candidate will oversee contractors, provide training, promote safety, conduct performance reviews, and coordinate with operations to maintain top system reliability.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of experience in construction, operation and maintenance of underground outside plant facilities or overhead electric distribution facilities.
• Knowledge of Company/Union Agreement and bargaining unit workforce, including Positive Discipline.
• Ability to read and understand schematics and 1-line diagrams.
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license with a safe driving history.
• Must obtain FLST score unless internally promoted for 12 months; test validity rules apply.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned personnel in construction, maintenance and operation of overhead or underground facilities; provide development and training.
• Promote safety principles and procedures.
• Coach; counsel and recognize associates and conduct first-step grievance meetings.
• Conduct fact-finding meetings as required.
• Conduct performance appraisal reviews with bargaining unit associates.
• Identify and correct unusual or unsafe conditions.
• Assign and direct work to achieve safe, efficient, expeditious results.
• Interface with Division Operations to ensure top quartile system reliability.
• Maintain relationships across departments for Safe and Reliable operation of the Electric Grid.
• Accept overtime, call-out and on-call assignments including emergencies during and outside normal hours; support major events.
• Safety sensitive position / DOT testing required.
