Job summary

Ideal Aerosmith in Rockville, MD is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for UAV/UAS programs. You will lead design, integration, and performance of complex electrical systems, and work hands-on from concept to flight test.

You must have 10+ years in aerospace electrical engineering, strong system-level thinking, and the ability to mentor others. Travel domestically and internationally as needed, contribute to program reviews, risk assessments, and maintain documentation maturity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with complex electromechanical systems; aerospace/UAV/robotics experience preferred.
• Experience as technical lead or senior contributor on complex electrical development and integration.
• Experience with avionics, power systems, embedded systems, controls, and sensor integration.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; valid driver's license and passport.
• U.S. citizen due to federal contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of UAV/USV electrical architectures (power, data, RF, controls).
• Own end-to-end electrical system architecture and interfaces; manage ICDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs.
• Lead system-level trade studies on power budgets, thermal, EMI/EMC, and cost.
• Design, review, and troubleshoot circuits and PCBs; support integration and testing.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across cross-functional teams.
• Drive component selections for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Support transition from prototype to production with manufacturability and documentation maturity.
