Job summary

Rigetti Computing in Berkeley, CA seeks an experienced Quantum Engineer to advance two-qubit gate performance on tunable-coupler superconducting processors. You will design, run, and interpret experiments to identify dominant error sources, and implement pulse shaping, calibration, and error suppression to push reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field.
• Hands-on experience calibrating and characterizing two-qubit gates on superconducting devices; tunable couplers a plus.
• Deep understanding of gate design, pulse engineering, and decoherence mechanisms with a track record of translating diagnostics into fidelity gains.
• Ability to independently drive complex experimental efforts from concept to validated results.

Responsibilities

• Lead experimental programs to characterize, calibrate, and optimize two-qubit gates on tunable-coupler devices across single-pair to full-processor deployment.
• Identify gate-error bottlenecks and isolate their physical origin via targeted experiments, benchmarking, and simulation.
• Develop and harden calibration methods using optimal pulse shaping, dynamical decoupling, and scalable error suppression strategies.
• Develop metrology for Hamiltonian extraction and correlate with gate performance to drive device design and control changes.
• Prepare Rigetti devices for internal applications and external deployment.
• Stay current with literature and translate state-of-the-art techniques into production hardware.
