Job summary
Nationwide is seeking a Senior Trial Attorney to lead complex insurance defense, subrogation, commercial litigation, and construction defect matters within our Trial Division. You will handle high-exposure cases as lead counsel, mentor junior attorneys, and partner with claims professionals and business partners to deliver favorable outcomes.

Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is required.
- Active license to practice law in the applicable state.
- 15+ years of civil litigation experience.
- Significant insurance defense and subrogation litigation experience.
- Proven success handling complex commercial litigation and construction defect matters.
- Extensive experience managing cases through discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, settlement, and trial.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage complex litigation matters from inception through trial or resolution.
- Lead counsel in jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative proceedings.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies including subrogation recovery.
- Evaluate liability, damages, recovery potential, settlement opportunities, and trial strategy.
- Partner closely with claims professionals, clients, experts, and business stakeholders.
- Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
- Leverage technology and litigation tools to maximize efficiency and outcomes.
- Stay current on legal developments affecting litigation and insurance-related matters.
