Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an experienced Senior Trial Attorney to join our Trial Division and lead complex litigation matters involving insurance defense, subrogation, commercial litigation, and construction defect claims.

As lead counsel in juries, bench trials, arbitrations, and mediations, you will develop strategies, manage cases from start to finish, mentor junior attorneys, and partner with claims professionals and business partners to drive excellent outcomes.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the applicable state.
• 15+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Significant insurance defense and subrogation litigation experience.
• Proven success handling complex commercial litigation and construction defect matters.
• Extensive experience managing cases through discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, settlement, and trial.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex litigation matters from inception through trial or resolution.
• Serve as lead counsel in jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative proceedings.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies including subrogation recovery, contract and indemnity matters.
• Evaluate liability, damages, recovery potential, settlement opportunities, and trial strategy.
• Partner with claims professionals, clients, experts, and business stakeholders.
• Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
• Leverage technology and litigation tools to maximize efficiency and outcomes.
• Stay current on legal developments affecting litigation and insurance-related matters.
