Job summary

The City of Hillsboro is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the Transportation Systems work within Community Development. You will guide transportation planning, perform traffic analysis, and advise City leadership on engineering decisions.

Ideal candidates have expertise in travel demand modeling, GIS, and experience with multiple traffic tools. This full-time role requires collaboration with regional partners and governance bodies.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and related design guidelines.
Experience with traffic analysis tools and modeling concepts.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers on transportation planning and projects.
Review land use traffic impact analyses and draft findings.
Calibrate the travel demand model with Metro and county partners.
Draft and update the Transportation System Plan and related policies.
Collaborate with departments and agencies on transportation projects and agreements.
Present findings to Planning Commission and City Council.
