Job summary

City of Hillsboro seeks a Principal Engineer to lead its Transportation System Plan efforts and guide transportation planning, engineering analyses, and complex development projects.

You will supervise an engineering team, review land use traffic analyses, and coordinate with regional partners to ensure compliance with the TSP while communicating technical information to City leadership and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Seven years of civil engineering experience, including three years of supervisory responsibilities.
• Knowledge of highway capacity and traffic engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Scopes, reviews, and evaluates land use traffic analyses with findings and conditions.
• Performs traffic analysis of roadways and intersections.
• Calibrates the city’s travel demand model with Metro and Washington County.
• Drafts amendments and updates to the Transportation System Plan.
• Manages contracts for transportation planning refinement projects.
• Represents the city in regional forums and presents to the Planning Commission and City Council.
• Prepares or reviews legal documents related to development and transportation.
