Job summary

1898 & Co., a Burns & McDonnell division, seeks experienced Transmission Planning Consultants to advance our nationwide consulting practice. You will apply advanced engineering analytics to evaluate grid performance and develop cost-effective solutions for generation retirements, renewable integration, and regulatory compliance.

You will conduct a broad range of planning studies, mentor staff, and deliver client-ready reports and presentations.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent with 3+ years related experience; advanced degrees preferred.
Experience with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.
Experience with power system planning studies: transient stability, short circuit, voltage analysis; knowledge of NERC/FERC/Regional requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform transmission planning studies (power flow, stability, transfer capability, reliability assessments).
Develop client-ready reports and presentations summarizing study results and recommendations.
Mentor junior staff and collaborate with project managers and clients across disciplines.
Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and regional standards in study work and documentation.
