Job summary

New Leaf Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transmission Planning Engineer in a hybrid work environment with multiple U.S. office locations, including Oakland, CA.

You will perform transmission analysis, develop scopes for engineers, and lead ISO territory studies to optimize interconnection sites for utility-scale projects. The role requires 5+ years in power engineering focused on transmission planning, a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and strong software skills (PSSE, TARA) to interpret

Qualifications

• 5+ years of power engineering experience, with specialization in transmission planning.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar relevant study.
• Advanced knowledge of Power systems and transmission planning practices, with ability to build expertise in specific ISO territories.
• Proficiency with planning software to perform transmission system analysis (Steady State power flow, stability, transfer analysis).
• Advanced ability to work in multiple software programs (PSSE, TARA, etc).
• Ability to read and interpret ISO Study deliverables and understand impact to New Leaf projects.
• Ability to teach less experienced engineers how to perform transmission analysis.
• Strong understanding of New Leaf VSM and development strategy.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission analysis with minimal supervision by Lead TPE or Manager.
• Create scopes of work for third party engineers or internal TPEs.
• Review deliverables created by Internal TPE or Third party Engineers.
• Create SOPs for team study methodologies.
• Lead transmission planning efforts for multiple ISO territories and identify optimal interconnection locations.
• Evaluate ISO and utility impact studies and propose alternative approaches when needed.
• Assist project developers in evaluating feasibility of potential project sites, including estimating network upgrades and costs.
• Onboard and manage third party consultants for engineering analysis.
