K&A Power is seeking a Lead Transmission Engineer to join K&A Engineering in Connecticut. You will lead transmission line design for capital projects, review plans with PLS-CADD, and drive routing strategy to optimize reliability.

The role requires extensive EPC/Mega project experience and engagement with clients. The position emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams, with in-office CT requirements and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in EE or related degree.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering, substation or transmission.
• Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
• Experience on EPC or Megaprojects.
• Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques.

Role Expectations

• Conductor Selection
• Structure recommendations
• Insulation, A/C interference, static wire, grounding studies
• Line Design: Plans and Profiles, Cross section details
• LiDAR and aerial photo data
• Utilization of wetlands, vernal pool and sensitive resource data in line and structure design and placement
• Detailed estimate and probability modeling
• Other studies as required to complete the projects
• Lead overall transmission line design for all capital projects
• Review/Design transmission line plan and profile drawings using PLSCAD to ensure compliance with the client’s TM standards and NESC/other standards
• Drive the project plan for transmission line routing and strategy, specifically:
  • Decide whether to rebuild existing lines or obtain additional right of way based on area congestion and local politics/permitting issues
  • Determine required structure designs based on design constraints
  • Determine routing in and around into congested stations to optimize design/reliability and minimize the number of crossings

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience within substation or transmission.
• Perform engineering responsibilities without assistance and minimal supervision.
• Must have strong experience working on EPC Projects or Megal Projects.
• Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
• Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
• Support business development and marketing initiatives.
• Strong attention to detail, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving
• PE license highly preferred
• In Office- Must be local to Connecticut

Pay Range: $115,00

0-$120,000/annually
