Job summary

Three Rivers Community Action seeks a Lead Transit Operator to drive routes and support drivers, coordinating route timing, maintenance, and safety inspections. You will assist leadership with reporting, scheduling, and driver observations, and train new drivers as needed.

The role requires 2+ years CDL driving, 1–2 years supervisory experience, a valid license and auto insurance, and the ability to pass mandatory background and Fitness-for-Duty exams. Travel within service area is expected.

Qualifications

• CDL driving experience required (minimum 2 years).
• Current, valid driver’s license for at least 3 years; clean driving record.
• Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
• Able to pass background checks including criminal history.
• Current, valid automobile insurance.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to comply with CFR Part 40 regulations for transit operators.
• Ability to pass Fitness for Duty exam paid by the agency.
• Able to safely operate large transit vehicles and related equipment.
• Must read, write and speak English proficiently for communication.
• Adherence to all state/highway safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to use tablets and basic transit software; participate in Driver Training modules.

Responsibilities

• Drive assigned routes and back up other drivers as needed.
• Assist leadership with reporting, scheduling and driver observations.
• Provide route training for new or current drivers.
• Assist in timing and planning of routes; coordinate vehicle maintenance.
• Conduct regular vehicle and facility inspections for safety and readiness.
• Resolve dispatch issues to ensure smooth transit operations.
