Job summary

Keolis Group in Burnsville, MN seeks a skilled heavy equipment body/collision repair technician with 5 years of progressive experience. The role covers body repairs, refinishing, upholstery, welding, and ADA safety equipment work on transit coaches.

You will diagnose, plan repairs, prepare parts, document labor, and mentor others in a fast-paced 24/7 environment. A high school diploma or GED and a valid Minnesota driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Five years progressive heavy equipment body/collision repair and refinishing required.
• Two years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Experienced in general body and upholstery repairs.
• High school diploma or GED
• A valid MN driver's license is required
• Experience with paint mixing/color matching, spot blending required
• Must have an in-depth understanding of ADA safety equipment design/repair
• Must prioritize and be detail oriented under interruptions
• Must have leadership skills and ability to mentor and instruct
• Good communication and documentation to management personnel

Responsibilities

• Examines damaged vehicle and plans repair process.
• Provides assessment and evaluation of major collision damages.
• Creates parts requests and coordinates with parts department for timely orders.
• Performs major frame and structural damage repairs.
• Re-upholsters and replaces bus seating.
• Performs MIG, TIG and stick welding.
• Uses oxy-acetylene welding to braze and solder.
• Repairs coaches focusing on complex problems including ADA equipment and safety systems.
• Performs upgrades and modifications on coach systems per manufacturers' recommendations.
• Performs all aspects of paint work and color matching; documents labor.
• Records all labor in OCTA and provides comprehensive repair notes.
• Communicates with others on vehicle repair status.
• Ensures quality repairs with on-time status in mind.
• Removes upholstery and trim to access parts.
• Files, grinds and sands; repairs and paints surfaces with power/hand tools.
• Familiar with collision repair scope including frame repair, welding, bondo, prep, sanding, primer, and paint.
