Job summary
The Texas Department of Transportation Houston District is seeking an experienced Traffic Maintenance Crew Chief to lead a field crew responsible for maintenance and repair of traffic signals, roadway illumination, and related ITS assets. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and operational readiness for the Houston area.
As a lead worker you will plan activities, mentor technicians, coordinate resources, and provide input on safety and training.
Qualifications
- 5 years of construction, electrical troubleshooting, or traffic systems maintenance.
- Substitutions for minimum qualifications may be made with related college education or technical training.
- Valid driver’s license required; must be able to drive a state vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Lead field crew for maintenance of traffic signals, roadway illumination, and related ITS assets.
- Plan work activities, coordinate personnel and resources, and ensure safe, efficient completion.
- Train and mentor technicians; support safety culture and career development.
