Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is seeking a Traffic Signal Maintenance Supervisor to oversee, coordinate, and participate in the activities and maintenance of traffic signals including studies and timing. You will supervise staff within the Traffic Service Division and work with other divisions and outside agencies.

Five years of experience in traffic signal maintenance is required, along with an Associate's degree in electronic engineering or related field.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible experience in traffic signal maintenance or related field.
• Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in electronic engineering, computer programming, or a related field.
• International Municipal Sign Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Level II certification; Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
• IMSA Traffic Signal Level III certification; Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no restrictions.
• From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and review paraprofessional and maintenance staff providing signal maintenance.
• Participate in staff selection, evaluation, training, and discipline procedures.
• Coordinate, implement and inspect construction of traffic signals.
• Investigate and respond to citizen and council transportation requests and inquiries.
• Coordinate meetings with utilities, NCDOT, contractors and other parties for signal system work.
• Manage daily operations, maintenance and repairs of the signal maintenance section; assign work and review quality.
• Maintain equipment and materials inventory; requisition parts and supplies.
• Assist in maintaining traffic signal timing implementations.
• Design new traffic signal layouts; review staff designs and timing studies.
• Coordinate traffic investigations, studies, control, accidents, and street closures.
• Oversee staff to isolate communications and electronics malfunctions.
