Job summary

STV, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineering Group Lead for our Fairfax, VA or Washington DC offices with hybrid/flexible work arrangements.

You will guide task orders from planning through final design, oversee design production, and mentor engineers while coordinating with VDOT, DDOT, and local jurisdictions. The role emphasizes leadership, technical oversight, and client engagement to deliver multimodal transportation solutions across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Current PE in Virginia or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
• PTOE or Virginia Advanced Work Zone Certification is a plus.
• Ideally 10 years of traffic engineering experience, with strong design and leadership background.
• Experience with scheduling, budgeting, and staffing to meet milestones.
• Familiarity with CAD/design tools and traffic analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Lead task orders and small to mid-sized traffic projects from planning through final design.
• Oversee traffic studies and design plans including MUTCD standards and safety elements.
• Manage design production, delegate work, and mentor junior engineers.
• Support Vision Zero and multimodal transportation improvements.
• Develop technical reports, cost estimates, and bid package materials.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet schedule and budget.
• Build/maintain client relationships with agencies and stakeholders.
• Support business development through scope development and proposals.
• Represent STV in client services and industry events.
