Job summary

Trillium Staffing in Essex, MD, is seeking a 1st shift Tool and Die Maker to design, build, and modify tooling systems with minimal supervision. You will operate CNC equipment, EDM, grinders, and inspect tooling for tolerance and quality, while driving continuous improvements.

The role offers $45.00-$50.00 per hour, relocation assistance for qualified candidates, and a comprehensive benefits package. Requires 6+ years in tool & die, GD&T expertise, and high-volume stamping experience.

Qualifications

• Expert-level precision machining (CNC and manual).
• Strong understanding of tooling design, materials, heat treatment, and metallurgy.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing interpretation.
• High proficiency in precision measurement and inspection techniques.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in tool & die making, precision machining, mold/die manufacturing, or related field.
• Experience with high-volume metal stamping environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modify complex tooling systems, including dies, molds, fixtures, jigs, and gauges with minimal supervision.
• Operate and program CNC equipment, manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, EDM machines, and other precision tools.
• Develop and optimize tool paths using CAM software as needed.
• Work with hardened steels, specialty alloys, and advanced engineered materials.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex tooling and production issues.
• Repair, rebuild, and restore worn or damaged tooling and dies.
• Diagnose root causes of tooling failure, wear, or dimensional variation and implement corrective actions.
• Drive improvements in tool life, cycle time, efficiency, and product quality.
• Perform precision inspection using CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, indicators, and related equipment.
• Ensure tooling meets all tolerance, quality, and performance standards.
• Document repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance activities.
