Job summary

Chesapeake Montessori is seeking a Lead Teacher to support toddlers, with a Bachelor's degree, Montessori training, or progress toward certification, plus classroom experience. The position offers Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, and compensation of $17-$18 per hour based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans a week in advance using current curriculum guides.
• Implement lesson plans and curriculum weekly across all areas of child development and follow classroom schedule.
• Establish a professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Ensure safety and well-being of children and maintain a clean, organized classroom.
• Maintain child portfolios and conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences.
• Demonstrate physical ability to work around young children and lift up to 40 lbs.

To beQUALIFIED for this position, we require a Bachelor's degree, Montessori Training, or an applicant who is in the process of obtaining certification as well as classroom experience.

Required Shift:Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm

Compensation: $17- $18 an hour based on experience and education

Our Hiring Process:

Main Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate one week in advance using current curriculum guides.
• Implement lesson plans/curriculum on a weekly basis covering all areas of child development and carry out lesson plans according to classroom schedule/daily routine; Use our parent communication app efficiently.
• Establish a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child, responding to their emotional needs; and maintaining an organized, clean, safe, and appropriately decorated classroom.
• Maintain a child assessment and portfolio for each child, as well as conduct biannual parent/teacher conferences during the month of November and May.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
• Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the care of the children.
