Children’s International School, based in Alexandria, Virginia, seeks an energetic, creative educator for ouryoung toddler class. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children as they inquire about the world and explore their curiosities from their perspective. The ideal candidate also has a strong understanding of child development, an excitement for learning, and is patient, calm, and flexible.
Children’s International School provides hands-on learning that addresses the whole child, utilizing the Reggio Emilia philosophy and Creative Curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide a warm, nurturing, and safe learning environment that encourages children to explore and grow.
To implement an intercultural curriculum that meets the social, physical, and emotional needs of a child.
Supervise, train, and evaluate the Teacher's Assistant(s). Collaborate with the assistant (s) on curriculum development.
To direct the children and encourage them in their daily activities.
To maintain good communication with parents, teacher assistants, and the Director.
To promote positive behavior and good social skills with the children by applying consistent techniques in accordance with licensing standards
To keep staff informed of program goals and developments.
To develop a cooperative and supportive attitude within the school.
Qualifications:
At least two years of teaching experience in a licensed preschool or childcare program
Relevant education background: CDA, AA, BS/BA in ECE or a child-related field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Dependable, enthusiastic, and committed
