Role Description

The Lead Toddler Guide is a full-time, on-site position located in Burnsville, MN. This role is responsible for guiding toddlers through daily routines and learning activities that align with Montessori philosophy, including practical life skills, sensory exploration, and early language and social development. The Lead Toddler Guide prepares and maintains a safe, orderly, and engaging classroom environment, observes children to understand their developmental needs, and adjusts activities and materials accordingly. Daily responsibilities include supervising children, supporting positive behavior, communicating with families about their child’s progress, and collaborating with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality care. The Lead Toddler Guide also assists with classroom documentation, follows health and safety protocols, and participates in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience working with toddlers in an early childhood education or child care setting, preferably in a Montessori or child-centered environment.
• Knowledge of child development, age-appropriate practices, and positive guidance strategies for children ages 16 months to 3 years.
• Ability to create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom, including preparing materials, managing routines, and supporting transitions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with children, families, and colleagues, including clear verbal and written communication.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices with children and adults.
• Capability to manage physical demands of the role, such as lifting children, sitting on the floor, and actively engaging in play and activities.
• Relevant education in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; Montessori toddler certification or training is highly beneficial.
• Current or eligibility for required state licenses or certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, background check clearance) in Minnesota.
