Job Description: Position Summary
Sunny Hollow is seeking a Lead Guide to help open a Toddler Community in September 2026. The Lead Guide serves as the educational leader of the Montessori classroom and holds primary responsibility for creating and sustaining an authentic Montessori environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of children or adolescents. The Lead Guide works in close collaboration with colleagues, families, and support professionals to ensure the holistic success of each student. The start date for this role is negotiable but no later than August 24, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Montessori Environment & Instruction: Prepare and maintain a high‑quality Montessori learning environment. Deliver presentations in alignment with Montessori curriculum. Develop individualized curriculum plans. Maintain accurate student records.
- Health, Safety, and Classroom Management: Ensure student safety, supervise self and others, keep environments clean and organized.
- Family Engagement & Communication: Prepare newsletters, share photos in Transparent Classroom, attend biannual family conferences, support admissions, contribute to school events.
- Collaboration & Student Support: Work with Tier 2 and Tier 3 support professionals, coordinate transitions between program levels, attend meetings such as One‑on‑One, Lead Guide, Team, Level, Cross‑Level, All Staff, Committee, IEP, and Child Study meetings.
- Professional Development & School Community Engagement: Self‑assessment, peer evaluation, mandatory mandatory mandatory not self‑must mandatory not self mandatory mandatory mandatory mandatory not mandatory mandatory mandatory not mandatory mandatory not. Attend family education, community building, retention events, and fundraising initiatives.
- Assistant Guide Supervision: Set vision and tone, hold weekly meetings, provide training, review annual goals, give feedback and participate in performance evaluation.
- Administrative & Program Support: Manage classroom budget, plan overnight or extended trips.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit on the floor, stand and walk for extended periods, frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lift up to 40 pounds, supervise students for a full day, work indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Work Environment: Dynamic, child‑centered setting with moderate‑to‑high activity, occasional evening or weekend events.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS). AMI or AMS Teaching Diploma/credential appropriate to program level or currently enrolled in a recognized training program.
- Experience: 1–3 years of teaching experience in a Montessori school setting.
- Certifications & Competencies: Completion of all annual DHS and OSHA training, demonstrated understanding of Montessori philosophy and methodology, strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
