Job summary

Eastern Michigan University seeks a Title IX Investigator to lead internal investigations of sexual misconduct, harassment, and gender-based discrimination on the Main Campus. The role reports to the Title IX Coordinator and requires confidentiality, impartiality, and meticulous record-keeping.

The investigator will collaborate with the Coordinator, gather evidence, and prepare comprehensive reports while ensuring compliance with Title IX, VAWA, and related laws.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree in an appropriate specialization is required.
• At least two (2) years of relevant investigation-related experience is required.
• Experience conducting investigations in Title IX or civil rights matters is required.
• Knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, and related laws is required.
• Strong written communication and organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator to monitor and manage incidents.
• Act independently with initiative and sound judgment.
• Serve as the lead internal Title IX investigator for cases involving sexual misconduct and related issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality throughout investigations.
• Gather evidence and advise parties of their rights.
• Prepare comprehensive written investigative reports for the Title IX Coordinator.
• Provide status updates on investigations and identify systemic issues.
• Develop and deliver Title IX training for students, faculty, and staff.
• Stay current with state and federal Title IX and VAWA requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of laws related to EEO and discrimination and perform related duties.
