Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Thermodynamic HVAC Engineer to join the Thermal Management team in the Engineering and R&D Department. The role is preferably based in Columbus, OH, with global product scope supporting chilled water systems.

You will lead multi-disciplinary efforts to develop high-performance, cost-effective products, review CAD/BOM, and drive timely execution while balancing cost and quality. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in mechanical engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant HVAC project experience, especially liquid chillers.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics and refrigeration principles.
• Intermediate English (written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage the development of new R&D products in the data center cooling sector for global datacenter customers.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Procurement and Industrial Engineering to deliver market-leading innovation.
• Lead the design of new products or re-engineer existing ones, ensuring customer needs are met.
• Approve and review product documentation (CAD drawings, bills of material).
• Meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution; trade off market/internal needs.
• Analyze and resolve technical problems related to products under responsibility.
