Job summary

BlueCore Energy seeks a Principal Thermal-Hydraulics & Safety Analysis Engineer in Long Beach. You will model system TH, size primary/secondary loops, and author safety analyses to support PSAR/FSAR. This role requires leading DNBR, CHF validation, and coupling with neutronics while coordinating with the Core Physics team.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree in nuclear/mechanical engineering and have hands-on experience with TH codes and ASME NB design rules for marine reactor components.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering with reactor TH knowledge.
• Experience with system TH codes (RELAP5-3D, TRACE, ATHLET).
• Understanding of NB Code Class 1 primary component design-by-analysis.

Responsibilities

• Model system thermal-hydraulics, nodalization, DNBR and hot-channel analysis.
• Size reactor components: pressure vessel, steam generator, pumps.
• Develop heat balances for primary/secondary/tertiary loops and seawater cooling.
• Write Chapter 15 TH evaluations and coordinate with risk analysis.
• Set minimum-DNBR per SAFDL and validate CHF correlations.
• Manage fatigue and fracture margins in component design.
• Coordinate TH feedback with Core Physics team.
