Job summary
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead Thermal Engineer (Space Optics) to lead spacecraft-level thermal design, modeling, and analysis for space missions. On-site in Palm Bay, FL or Fort Wayne, IN, with relocation assistance available, you will mentor engineers and drive thermal strategy across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 9+ years of related experience; or advanced degree with 7+ years.
- 5+ years professional experience using Thermal Desktop.
- Experience in space environment design/analysis and IPTL/leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead spacecraft-level thermal design architecture and requirements.
- Develop detailed thermal models for all mission phases.
- Lead design and validation of thermal control hardware.
- Own thermal budgets and requirements flow-down.
- Direct development of thermal math models with standard tools.
- Support TVAC planning and test result correlation.
- Mentor engineers and drive process improvements.
- Prepare documents: requirements, reports, test plans.
- Able to obtain US security clearance.
