Job summary

Sandstone Care in Richmond, VA is seeking a Primary Therapist to lead individual, group, and family therapy sessions for teens and young adults, guiding recovery with evidence-based plans. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans and support clients on their recovery journey.

You’ll ensure clinical documentation is accurate and compliant, participate in utilization reviews, and help coordinate with families and referral sources.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in behavioral health science is required.
• Active VA license in good standing is required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with clients aged 13–30 in detox, residential, PHP, or IOP settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive treatment plans with clients and families.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation in compliance with standards and insurance requirements.
• Participate in utilization reviews and discuss medical necessity with insurers.
• Coordinate with families to align goals and progress.
• Support program development and staff mentoring to uphold high standards of care.
