Job summary

JPW Industries is seeking a Test & Development Engineer to lead the NPD test lab in La Vergne, TN. You will own lab setup, develop procedures, and mentor a technician, delivering robust test data that informs design decisions.

You will design fixtures, run durability and performance tests, and ensure compliance with UL/CSA/ANSI standards while collaborating with engineers and project leaders. This on-site role requires up to 15% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics or related field.
• 7+ years in product test and development engineering, ideally in machinery/power tools.
• End-to-end test programs: designing and integrating fixtures, executing tests, delivering data and reports.
• Lab leadership: managing test operations, prioritizing campaigns, supervising technicians.
• Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks); wiring, PCB testing, and instrumentation familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Own lab setup, maintenance, calibration, safety, and procurement to keep projects on schedule.
• Set lab priorities, manage test queue, and keep plans, data, and reports organized.
• Supervise and coach the test technician, removing roadblocks to quality and timely delivery.
• Develop test procedures with standards (UL, CSA, ANSI) from the ground up.
• Design, build, and validate test fixtures; fabricate as needed and validate results.
