Job summary

Avride is seeking a Lead Test Engineer to own end-to-end evaluation dataset coverage for the autonomous driving stack. You will define what the dataset must contain, identify gaps, and guide data collection from mining, simulation, and field sources.

You will lead by building processes, coordinating with QA engineers and operations, and growing a small team as needed. Strong data fluency, communication, and knowledge of US road rules are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software testing or test engineering, incl. 2+ years owning test strategy.
• Coverage as a first-class problem in a safety-critical stack.
• Hands-on with data: SQL and Python to pull and sanity-check metrics.
• Fluent use of LLMs as a working tool for triage and reporting.
• Strong written communication for engineering and safety audiences.
• Ability to reason about US road rules and real-world driver behavior.

Responsibilities

• Own the evaluation dataset: what is in it, what is missing, and what it proves about driving quality.
• Own the coverage model and keep OSDS taxonomy and space accurate.
• Close the distance between scenarios and scenes via mining, simulation or field data.
• Set the mining agenda for the QA team and review feedback regularly.
• Be the internal customer for mining tooling and translate needs to engineering.
• Bring in proven approaches from other AV programs and vendors.
• Coordinate with dependent teams to ensure labeling and analytics exist.
• Report coverage and readiness in a clear, release-ready format.
