The Select Group is seeking a Lead Test Automation Engineer for a top telecommunication client. This is a long-term, fully remote contract. The ideal candidate will have telecommunications expertise to lead test automation for RAN and O-RAN, automating approximately 500 test cases primarily using Python.

Lead Test Automation Engineer Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 7+ years in software development/test automation, with 4 years in telecommunications
• Expert-level Python programming skills, with experience building frameworks from scratch
• Hands-on experience with 4G/5G
• Deep understanding of O-RAN
• Experience integrating with telecom test equipment (Keysight, VIAVI preferred)
• Experience with Version control systems (GIT), CI/CD, testing frameworks

Nice To Have Skills

• Master's Degree in a relevant field
• Telecommunications certifications or knowledge of network technologies
• Experience with RAN testing, validation, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments
• Familiarity with RAN network KPIs and performance metrics
• Experience with network protocol analyzers and traffic generators
• Background in API testing and RESTful service automation

Lead Test Automation Engineer Responsibilities

• Design and develop a robust Python automation framework for telecom testing that integrates with existing tools
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to a team of 3-4 members
• Analyze complex telecom test scenarios and develop automation solutions
• Prioritize test cases based on business value and complexity
• Collaborate with internal Telecom SMEs
• Develop automated test cases for neural function deployment, configuration, and validation
• Establish coding standards, review code, and ensure quality of automation deliverables
