Job summary

MVP Sports Clubs in West Michigan is hiring a Head Tennis Professional to lead group and private tennis instruction for all ages, coordinating with the Tennis Manager to grow the program and assist with administrative duties.

The role requires sturdy teaching credentials (USTA, USPTA/USPTR), 3–4 years of college education, and proven coaching experience. Expect 30+ hours weekly with weekend/holiday flexibility and a range of full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• USTA member.
• USPTA or USPTR certification as Professional or higher; if not, must attain within 6 months.
• Minimum of three to four years of college education.
• Involvement with USTA and local/state tennis organizations.
• First Aid/CPR Training; MVP training if certifications missing.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
• College playing experience preferred at NCAA DIV I, II or III level.
• Customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Proven track record of accountability and integrity.
• Familiar with teaching tools to carry out responsibilities.
• Able to perform physical demands of tennis instruction up to 8 hours/day.

Responsibilities

• Provide group and private lesson instruction for all ages 3 and up.
• Maintain teaching standards on and off court.
• Assist Tennis Manager with program administration.
• Work a minimum of eight hours per week in an administrative capacity.
• Maintain accurate student and class records.
• Schedule and manage client bookings.
• Ensure commissions and payroll are processed accurately.
• Cultivate new and existing member business through outreach.
• Promote and grow tennis programs and events.
• Assist with USTA or in-house tournaments.
• Support long-term development of school programs.
• Answer member questions courteously and promptly.
• Notify supervisor of problems.
• Maintain neat, professional appearance in MVP uniform.
• Other duties as assigned.
